The Badlands of South Dakota
As you head east or west on Interstate 90 you can't help but be bombarded with billboards coaxing you to visit Wall Drug. For all this advertising its really just a big store for buying souvenirs from the Black Hills of South Dakota. Instead why not take the scenic Badlands bypass. The Badlands loop runs about 60 miles into and back out of the Badlands of South Dakota. This runs through Badlands state park which will cost you $10.00 to enter. The trip is worth it as the sights are incredible. The Badlands separate the upper and lower prairies. The downside of this trip is its location. In my visits to the Black Hills I've always been eager to get there or eager to get home. Needless to say the offer of a 60 mile detour in the middle isn't appealing. I would encourage you to take this trip at least once as its beauty is amazing, just as many other Black Hills areas are. Check out the pictures of the Badlands to see what you'd be visiting.
