Located 10-15 miles up Highway 16 from Rapid City South Dakota in the Black Hills is the famous Mount Rushmore National Memorial. The Mount Rushmore monument and its surroundings in the Black Hills of South Dakota have changed quite a bit over the years. The latest is a more formal Mount Rushmore National Monument viewing area and mammoth parking structure. It now costs $8.00 to park your car at Mount Rushmore but with all that granite, I guess someone has to pay for it.
