The Grand Rios Water Park  Hotel opened in September 2004.  The Grand Rios Hotel used to be a Sheraton hotel and was created into the largest indoor water park in Minnesota called Grand Rios.   The Southwestern style of the Grand Rios Hotel is a great improvement over the dingy look of the Sheraton Hotel.   Grand Rios Hotel has over 200 hotel rooms some with poolside views.  Grand Rios Hotel amenities include wireless internet , in room dining and on demand movies and games in your Grand Rios hotel room.  Rooms at the Grand Rios Hotel include four passes for the Grand Rios water park.  Non-hotel guest access to the Grand Rios water park is available depending on availability.  The Grand Rios water park is 45,000 sq feet making Grand Rios the largest indoor water park in Minnesota.  Grand Rios Hotel offers two restaurants and a cafe to dine in after a day at the Grand Rios water park.  For specific Grand Rios Hotel rates click the link above. 

Grand Rios Water Park Hotel under construction.  I asked about the Grand Rios water slides and winter conditions and was told the water slides at  Grand Rios Water Park  would maintain an 82 degree temperature at all times.

I visited the newly opened Grand Rios Hotel.  The inside of the Grand Rios is more like a hotel than resort but decent.  The Grand Rios arcade is huge and  there is a small hotel pool for Grand Rios Hotel guests.  This pool is not located next to the Grand Rios water park.  Next to the Grand Rios water park is a snack stand with junk food and ice cream.    The Grand Rios water park designers sure used every bit of space to cram four twisty waterslides into the Grand Rios water park.  There are also two hot tubs and a lazy river that the water slides dump into.

We stayed at the Grand Rios twice and both times have been very happy with the Grand Rios hotel.  The renovated rooms are nice and the Grand Rios water park is fantastic.  The staff was attentive we'll definitely keep coming back.

Grand Rios was so much fun!  We rented a room around the plaza part, which is sort of like a beach in Mexico.  We could overlook the plaza, which was ringed by rooms - our room even had a balcony!  Plus, the Grand Rios water park was amazing.  When we got pooped out with all the climbing and slides, we just floated around the moat - the water does all the work pushing you around the moat (you just have to sit there!)  Pretty amazing, eh?  We loved it.  And boy, did we sleep that night.  : )
